Next Member Meeting is May 14th at 7PM at The Art Station. Presentation is by Alexia and is titled “Blogging – What is it and why do I need it?” – a brief overview of the benefits of blogging (blog is short for web log) for
artists.
And there’s an upcoming Art Show in Marietta. If you want to get in on it, details are below:

It’s that time of year again. The Big Shanty Festival is coming up on April 18th and 19th! NCAL has an area set aside for NCAL members & friends. If you want to set up a booth, please fill out this application and send it in asap!
Also, our Spring Juried Exhibition begins the 25th of April and runs until May 23rd. Download the prospectus here. The schedule for the show is as follows:

Join us on March 12th, 7:00PM at The Art Station for our March Member Meeting! Artist and Art Therapist Maxine Hull will speak on “The Power and Blessing of Personal Images.” She’s a fascinating woman and a great teacher. I hope to see all of you there!

MAXINE HULL is an awardwinning artist, a board certified Art Therapist and a diplomate with the American Psychotherapy Association, a nurturing teacher, a contemplative soul. She currently works in private practice with adults; runs workshops focused on creative expression, self awareness, and healing. She earned her Masters degree from Pratt Institute and has psychodynamic psychotherapy certification from the Long Island Institute of Mental Health.
She has received additional training in the psychology of health, immunity and disease, interactive guided imagery, abuse and conscious aging. Her particular areas of interest are the transformative nature of imagemaking, mind/body/spirit connection and the retrieval of the real self.

We are having Open Figure Drawing on Saturday, February 28th from 5-9pm. We will have a live model (or two) and it is only a $3 suggested donation to get in. Please tell anyone who you think may be interested. We will also be giving out some discounts for classes as a last ditch effort to get people to sign up.

Sheila Giddens, Chair of the World of Art Exhibit, just informed me
that the prospectus for the exhibit has not been received by quite a
number of people. If you are interested in applying or you know
someone who is, please go to the following link to print out the

Sheila is extending the deadline to March 10th.

Hope your year has gotten off to a great start!
Our next member meeting is Thursday February 12th at 7:00 PM at The Art Station Big Shanty. We will be holding elections at this time.
Please submit your nominations for the Executive Board from now until Wednesday, February 11th. Elections will take place at the NCAL meeting on February 12th, 7:00 PM, at The Art Station – Big Shanty. The position of Treasurer is currently filled by our former Recording Secretary, Pat Garrity. The nominees for President must have served on the Executive Board for a minimum of one year. The nominees for Vice President may be selected from the entire membership, as may the nominees for Recording Secretary and Corresponding Secretary. It’s suggested that the Corresponding Secretary be happy writing both business letters and hand-written personal notes.You may submit your nominations to Michael Wood.
VOTE AND BE PART OF NCAL HISTORY!
In addition to elections, the evening will feature a presentation by William Wardrop. Mr. Wardrop is a model-maker and sculptor who creates highly detailed models of Victorian-era vessels – and not just the real ones. He takes from history and science fiction and reproduces airplanes, ships & other vehicles in exquisite detail. He is exhibiting his newest creations in a show called “Man’s Imagination and Machines ” at the Southern Museum in Kennesaw staring February 21st. It will run for six months and several pieces will remain in the museum’s permanent collection.

To date nearly 500 Georgia-based entertainers, artists, craft makers, authors, museums, galleries, agritourism venues, and others have already registered.
Approved entries will be posted FREE for one year. Allow time for entries to be verified, NOTE: due to the holidays, entries posted after December 19th will not be verified until 2009.
