We got this email from an NCAL member, Betty Carr, announcing some awesome news!
Dear Friends and Patrons,
I am most pleased to announce (huge understatement!) that The American Watercolor Society has chosen my painting, Cold Dawn on Gulf Boulevard, to receive The Winsor & Newton Award in their 144th
International Exhibition this year in New York. It has also been chosen to tour in their Traveling Exhibit for 2011-2012, which comes as close as Tullahoma, TN. Just getting into this show was a huge
honor and surprise for me and I just want to share the joy. I’m going to NYC!
“Start spreadin’ the news….”
Members Only: If you have any news you wish to share with the membership, please email email@example.com and include a short blurb about your announcement, a photo & your own website address if you have one. It will go out to the mailing list & be added to the NCAL blog.
As you can see, things have been pretty busy here on the NCAL website. I’ve been tweaking & changing and making sure we have all the information you need to be a part of our organization.
We finally have all our classes & workshops up and ready for online registration! Check it out on the Classes page or go directly to our EventBrite page where all our classes are listed. Quick note: the fee you’re paying online is just for the class. Supply fees are payable directly to the instructor on the first day of class.
Our meeting next week on March 10th at the Arts Center just above Gallery 4463 will feature Lynn Edwards, a collage artist. She’ll give a demo and a tour of her studio.
We’ll also discuss the upcoming members only show. You can see on the sidebar a link for more information, or you can just click here. There is no entry fee and no jury so make sure your membership is up to date to participate!
And we need VOLUNTEERS!
If you know you want to offer your time and skills to the league, please be at the meeting this month.
We began our Studio Artist Series at our Monthly Member Meeting this month with 18 members in attendance!
Our first Studio Artist was Dinah Rose, a weaver. She showed us her weaving, gave a little lecture on what weaving is and some basics, and gave us a tour of her studio afterwards. Dinah is teaching a Weave a Scarf in a Day Workshop at the Arts Center on March 5 and April 30 2011 from 10am to 4pm. If you want to register for her workshop, download the class form and take it in to the Arts Center or register and pay online.
Here’s a short video of Dinah showing the loom and the scarf you will create in her class:
Join us next month for our second in the Studio Artist Series at 7:00 PM on March 10, when Lynn Edwards will be presenting her collage art and giving a tour of her studio. Here’s one of her pieces:
One quick note: our May meeting will be on the THIRD Thursday of the month instead of the second. Please mark this in your calendar!
